On Thursday, 8 October, DOBA University of Applied Sciences held a professional development meeting for 65 online mentors, where we presented updates for the 2026/2027 academic year, changes to the organisation of online mentoring and student support, and refreshed the standards for the work of online mentors.
Particular attention was given to the evolving role of the online mentor with the introduction of the AI tutor, the personalisation of studies and adapting support to the needs of individual students.
Online mentors are an important part of comprehensive student support at DOBA UAS and play an important role in our study model. As experts in their respective subject areas, they actively support, guide and motivate students throughout the delivery of each course. Each mentor works with a limited number of students, enabling a personalised approach and support in achieving learning objectives. All online mentors receive specialised training and hold a certificate for working as an online mentor at DOBA UAS.
Participants rated the meeting’s delivery and the usefulness of the content with an average score of 6.8 on a 7-point scale. They particularly praised the clear presentations, practical examples and explanations of the new mentoring role.
Through regular training and the ongoing development of the mentoring role at DOBA UAS, we strengthen the quality of online mentoring and create the conditions for an even more personalised study experience, more effective support and greater student success.
