SELF-ID Project Partners Met in Zagreb

How is the way we perceive ourselves and develop our identity changing in the digital age? This question was at the heart of a two-day meeting of SELF-ID project partners, held in Zagreb on 17 and 18 September 2026. Representatives of all partner institutions from Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Croatia attended the meeting, with Sara Petrovič representing DOBA University of Applied Sciences.

Experts and teachers developing new activities and content for children and young people worked together to explore ways of helping young people reflect on identity, self-image and self-esteem in the digital world. Social media, influencers, algorithms, artificial intelligence and peer relationships are just some of the factors influencing how young people perceive themselves and those around them.

Over the two days, the partners reviewed the work completed so far and planned the next steps of the project. Particular attention was given to preparing SELF-ID workshops for pupils and developing an educational escape room game that will encourage young people to explore these topics in an engaging and enjoyable way.

The project website, my-self-id.eu, has also been launched. It presents the project's objectives and all its partners, alongside news about project activities and project newsletters. The central feature of the website is a repository of resources for teachers and others working with young people. It includes lesson plans, workshops, quizzes, interactive games and videos covering topics such as online identity, self-image and social media, the influence of influencers, how algorithms work and cyberbullying. The resources are available in English, Slovenian, Croatian, Italian and German.

The meeting was not solely about work. Spending time together also gave the partners an opportunity to get to know one another better, exchange experiences and ideas, and strengthen the collaboration that underpins a successful project.
