The SELF-ID project is an innovative European initiative bringing together four organisations from Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria. It addresses one of the most important challenges of growing up today – how growing up online shapes identity, self-image and self-confidence – and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The main aim of the project is to help young people aged 10–14 better understand who they are in the digital world. To this end, the SELF-ID team is developing an evidence-based handbook, an educational tabletop escape room game and a set of practical tools for teachers.
The first project newsletter marks the 6th month of implementation: the team has met, research is under way, and the first results are taking shape. The findings from surveys and focus groups with more than 300 young people from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy are highlighted, pointing to shared concerns around authenticity, peer pressure, privacy and self-confidence. The newsletter also introduces the project partners and their areas of expertise, and announces a special edition dedicated to the research results.
