Dr. Anita Maček is a Full Professor of Economics with more than fifteen years of experience in higher education, research, consulting, and international project management. She graduated with honours from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor and received her PhD in 2009 with a doctoral dissertation focusing on cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the European Union.
Since 2016, she has been affiliated with FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Austria, where she is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Banking and Insurance Industry. She also teaches and coordinates courses at DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies in Slovenia at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Her research interests include international economics, foreign direct investment, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, finance, financial literacy, sustainability, and international business. She has published extensively in scientific journals, monographs, and conference proceedings and has supervised numerous bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral research projects.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Maček has substantial professional experience in consulting, applied research, and entrepreneurship. She has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research and Erasmus+ projects, particularly in the fields of sustainable finance, financial education, digital learning, and educational innovation.
